Last week, the scientific community marked a significant milestone as the Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) celebrated its 25th anniversary. The event took place at UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal Centre ESCER and was co-hosted by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
The 25th International SST Users’ Symposium and GHRSST Science Team Meeting brought together leading experts and researchers in the sea surface temperature (SST) community. The symposium served as a platform for sharing cutting-edge insights and advancements in various critical areas of SST research.
Key Science Sessions discussed at the symposium included:
- Coupled Data Assimilation
- Climate Change and Variability in Global and Regional SST
- Challenging Regions: the Coastal Margin and the Arctic
- Calibration, Validation, and Product Assessment
- Advances in Computing and Products
- Applications and Observations
For those who were unable to attend or wish to revisit the presentations, the symposium’s sessions and discussions are available on the GHRSST25 playlist.
As we reflect on the achievements of the past 25 years, we extend our gratitude to all contributors and participants who have supported GHRSST. Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that next year’s GHRSST26 will be hosted by the Danish Meteorological Institute in Copenhagen!
